Mera peak climbing Package, 17 Days Cost for 2026 and 2027

Mera peak climbing is a 17-day long adventurous trip in the Barun National Park of the Khumbu region. Mera peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal, with three summits- Mera Central (6,476m), Mera North (6,476m), and Mera South (6,065m). You will be submitting the highest summit, Mera North during our Mera peak climbing 2025 expedition. The journey is well-planned and guided by strong, experienced guides, so you do not have to worry about anything.

Given the less technicality of the summit route, Mera peak climbing is highly recommended to beginner climbers. Our team will help you prepare physically and mentally for climbing. You will get pre-climbing training and all the essential information before pushing toward the Mera peak summit, which will boost your confidence.

As per the expert mountaineers, Mera's peak climbing difficulty is marked alpine PD. It means this expedition is physically very demanding. Even though you have zero climbing experience, you have to be in good health and fit enough to climb in a harsh environment. Your willingness to reach the summit determines your success.

In no way Mera peak climbing is easy, regardless of its less technical climbing track. The overall climbing venture offers once in a lifetime experience. You will be trekking through remote Sherpa villages, seeing their daily lifestyle, and interacting with the locals.

The trail ascends and descends through lush rhododendron forests, crossing multiple suspension bridges on the way. You will be exploring the untouched Hinku Valley and get to witness stunning mountain panoramas while trekking. Snow-capped mountains decorate the skyline as you gradually ascend. Dense forests open up to vast pastures and join the alpine zone.

Exceptional Panoramic View from Mera Peak Climbing

The mountain views during the Mera peak climbing are outstanding. As you will be trekking in the Hinku valley, the mountain landscapes are quite exceptional and diverse. Unlike the mainstream Khumbu region trail, the trekking route to Mera peak is very isolated and undisturbed. Therefore, you can expect a tranquil environment and silent towering mountains dominating the skyline.

The river valley ascends to the snow line, and we’ll walk on moraines and glaciers to reach the top of Mera Peak. From the summit, you can see the heavenly ocean of Himalayan mountains poking out of dense clouds. Mountains like Chamlang (7,319 m), Baruntse (7,162 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,481 m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Cho Oyu (8,188 m), Everest (8,849 m), Kongde Ri (6,187 m), Pumori (7,161 m), etc.

Essential Information

Mera peak technical difficulty

Mera Peak is considered a technically challenging climb. It requires a good level of physical fitness and experience in mountaineering. The climb is mostly on snow and glaciers, with steep inclines and some sections that require using an ice ax and crampons. Most of the route is on the glacier, so it will require skills such as crampon and ice ax techniques and navigating crevasses.

It is important to note that climbing any mountain, including Mera Peak, also involves inherent risk. So even though it can be considered less technical than some other peaks, such as those in the Greater Ranges, it still requires a good level of physical fitness and mountaineering experience.

Mera peak trekking phase difficulty

Before we reach the Mera Peak Base Camp, we trek for six days through remote villages in an untouched part of the Khumbu region. The trekking part is essential for acclimatization and also prepares us for a strenuous climb. The trail is offbeat, and the services provided in the lodges along the way are also very limited.

The trail ascends and descends through dense forests. You will be crossing the Zatrawa La Pass (4,610 m) and walking through many landslide-prone areas. Every day will be a 6 hour walk.

Cancellation & Refunds

Regarding cancellations and refunds, we have a clear and transparent policy that takes into account various scenarios. In the case of trip cancellation, we will provide refunds depending on the notice period and the reasons for the cancellation.

If the cancellation is due to reasons on our side, such as a guide becoming unavailable, we will provide a full refund. If the cancellation is due to factors beyond our control, such as a natural disaster or pandemic, we will provide a partial refund or allow you to reschedule your trip for a later date.

In case of cancellation by the client, the refund will be given as per our cancellation policy mentioned in the terms and conditions.

Best Mera peak climbing season

The best time to climb Mera Peak depends on a variety of factors, including weather conditions, snow cover, and the individual climber's preferences. Typically, the best time to climb Mera Peak is during the spring and autumn seasons, when the weather is usually clear and stable.

Spring (March to May) is considered the best time to climb Mera Peak.

The temperature is mild, with the highest temperature of around 15°C at the base camp and below freezing at the summit. During spring, the snow is firm, making it easier for climbing, and the days are longer. Also, the mountain is less crowded as compared to the autumn season.

Autumn (September to November) is another good time to climb Mera Peak. The temperature is moderate during this time, and the weather is usually clear and stable. The mountain is more crowded during autumn, as this is the peak climbing season for most of the Himalayan peaks.

It is important to note that the weather in the Himalayas can be unpredictable, and even during the best time, it can change quickly. Thus, always be prepared for inclement weather and have the appropriate clothing and equipment.

Accommodation & Meal during Mera peak climbing

You can expect to stay in a combination of basic lodges or tea houses during the trek to the base camp of Mera Peak. From base camp onwards, we use alpine tents. Before the summit day, climbers spend a night in a high camp in tents.

The tents, mattresses, and equipment, such as cooking stoves and kitchenware will be provided by us. These camps are usually set up by the climbing staff as you progress through the trek.

In terms of meals, during the trek, a team of cooks will accompany the group and will be preparing meals. Most of the meals will be basic camping food such as soups, noodles, and rice dishes. However, in the tea houses or lodges, you will find a better selection of food, including local delicacies.

It's important to note that the food and accommodation provided during the climb may be basic, but it is the best that can be expected in such remote locations.

Travel Insurance for Mera peak climbing

When planning a climbing expedition to Mera Peak, it is crucial to have the right travel insurance to protect yourself in case of any unexpected events. Here are some of the key coverage options that you should consider:

Emergency medical and evacuation coverage: This coverage is crucial as it will cover the cost of any medical treatment you might need while on the climb, as well as the cost of evacuating you from the mountain in case of an emergency.

Trip cancellation and interruption coverage: It will protect you in case you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, injury, or natural disasters.

Baggage and personal effects coverage: In case your baggage or personal effects are lost, stolen, or damaged while on the trip, you will be able to recover the loss.

Search and rescue coverage: This will provide coverage for the cost of search and rescue in case of an emergency.

Adventure sports coverage: Many travel insurance policies exclude coverage for adventure sports, so it is important to make sure that the policy you choose includes climbing coverage too.

Charging, internet, and hot shower during Mera peak climbing

During a Mera Peak climbing expedition, charging electronic devices, internet connectivity, and hot showers can be limited or not available in some of the higher camps and the summit. Here is what you can expect:

Note: While trekking, you can get these services in lodges or tea houses along the way, but the service provider may ask you for a few extra bucks. These are your personal expenses and thus not covered in our Mera peak climbing cost. So, we recommend you have a small budget for the journey.

Charging electronic devices: The availability of electricity can be limited in the higher camps and the summit. It may be possible to charge devices in some of the teahouses or lodges during the trek, but it's best to bring a power bank to ensure that you have enough charge to last throughout the climb.

Internet connectivity: Internet connectivity can be limited or not available during the trek and climb, especially in the higher camps and the summit. Communication with the outside world may be limited to satellite phones or radios.

Hot showers: Hot showers are not typically available during the climb, as the camps and lodges in the higher elevations have limited facilities. You will most likely have to make do with washing in cold water and using wet wipes to maintain personal hygiene.
